Salon Showcase 2012-W17

Seems we overlooked one reportable milestone, which is the "50th Salon" meeting.  But this event varies by member, so today is the blogmaster's 54th Salon, and probably is Glen's 50th.  Eileen's 50th Salon is coming up soon, maybe June?  And that rhymes with "spoon"...  as in Forks & Spoons.

Next week, Salon goes on the road to the Sketchbook Project 2012 at Hyde Park Art Center.  The exhibition runs May 3-5; our book is titled Forks & Spoons and has call number 144.3-9.  To the right is the cover, so you'll know it when you see it.

We would love to see you there.   For our out of town followers, the exhibition tours America, maybe to a town near you...  Sketchbook 2012 Tour Schedule.  Meanwhile, Salon was mostly drawings today but a couple of us did pull out paintbrushes.  Enjoy!

Salon Showcase 2012-W16

Hello blog readers.  Yes, there were teasers in last week's post, but first we have a wee milestone to cheer:  our 250th international view this week, from a Latvian we believe.  Hurrah!  That should do it for remarkable milestones until sometime after Labor Day, though it would be great to be proven wrong on that.

Item two concerns The Sketchbook Project 2012, for which Salon deWinchester furnished an entry.  The travelling exhibition will visit Chicago on May 3-5.  Details here: Sketchbook Project 2012 at Hyde Park Art Center.  Our book has call number 144.3-9.  Check it out... literally!

Finally, last week your blogmaster began a new series with Stupidoofus, inspired by the Faces of Evil series and also by classical Greco-roman mythology.  Just as the Ancients had names for the four major winds, this series presents four major blowhards.  These pundits barely get two words out of their mouth before provoking thoughts like "oh, shut your godforsaken pie hole".  (Or less polite versions thereof.)  Since the four are well known, only their mythical name is presented.  Please enjoy guessing who they are, and which of the four inspired the Blowhard series.

Salon Showcase 2012-W15

Greetings, friends of the Salon.  In a few short weeks, May 3–5, the Salon members will be represented at a 3-day art event in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood — where they will appear in person on Saturday the 5th.  More details about the event will be forthcoming in the next two blogs.

We had a pleasant and productive Salon today...  Eileen continued drawing with the right side of her brain, Steve took an unplanned but lovely journey on his painting, Marge sketched a study for a new project, and David started a new series.  More about the new series next week.  Meanwhile, enjoy!

Salon Showcase 2012-W14

So today the world has one less "painter of light", Salon is on hiatus, and nothing "cramazing" to report.   What's worse, the blogmaster's vault is now down to cobwebs and classic paintings with the publication of three recent works below.  Time to look around for some UFOs — UnFinshed Objects — to finally complete.  Jacqueline vaults to the top on the merit of her timely, aptly named work.  We wish you a peaceful and Happy Easter!
