Salon Roundup 2012-W30

July has been a bad month for many, although shareholders in the local electric utility must be rubbing their hands together with glee.  As are we, to a lesser extent and for a better reason.  In the past few weeks, we've had a huge surge in blog views.  And we had our first international visitor from Israel (shalom) and that makes over 375 international visits from 43 countries.  We might even hit 3,500 total visits yet this month.  All this is both incredible and very pleasing to us.  Thanks for stopping by!

Today, one Salon member-artist is at a special Saturday edition of her book club, another is buzzing around Argentina, and three of us are joining up with some Truman College art mates to sketch en plein air at Chicago's best known graveyard, Graceland Cemetery.  We'll skim the cream of that crop and store it in the Vault for a rainy day...  more of which we could sure use.  Meanwhile, the blogmaster rounded up this week's "off-campus" works for us all to enjoy.  Peace!

Salon Vault 2012-W29

Salon is off this week and next, as per our Summer hours scheme.  This week's blog features a few items from the Vault; next week we'll have a Roundup of (at least 2) new July works.  Enjoy!

Salon Showcase 2012-W28

For some reason, we all woke up with Bastille Day on our minds, and yet none of us is French and only Marge made art using that theme.  Étrange, oui?  But it made for interesting conversation in lieu of the weather, which was blessedly pleasant.  It appears that drawing carried the day over painting, although Jacqueline picked up her brushes for the first time in ages to begin an intermittent series comprising studies of masterworks.  Please enjoy hers and our other masterful works from today!

Salon Showcase 2012-W27

By now everyone knows it's hotter than Hades here... haven't had this many 100+ degree days in a row since 1947.  Now, they all might be used to such nonsense in Texas but frankly we don't care for it up here.  Still, what are you going to do?  Despite the heat, the new Salon A/C did a tolerable job — and thus in comfort we created the works below and celebrated our blog's 3,250th visitor.  Thanks for stopping by, keep cool, and enjoy!   (P.S. That is not my mother.)
