Salon Showcase 2011-W38

Thank heaven for the blogmaster's vault.  We had to cancel Salon today, but we can present reserved works by Eileen and Steve.  This week, along with a couple blog milestones — our 1,500th US blog view and first sub-Saharan Africa visit (Kenya) — we reach the series finale, the possibly most heinous Face of Evil alive...  or some facsimile of "alive".  Boo Hiss!

Salon Showcase 2011-W37

Yikes!  Over twenty-five hours late with this week's blog.  Turns out, the blogmaster was vending at the neighborhood yard sale yesterday.  The sad part... proceeds failed to break into triple digits — though much was learned.  In addition to this week's penultimate evil face, we have another one of Eileen's drawings from last week and a stunning work that Steve created during our hiatus.  Enjoy!

Salon Showcase 2011-W36

We had a fantastic time today, with frantic conversation to catch everyone up on all things great and small. Yet we also had a productive day — almost everyone finished up early.  Must have been all that pent-up art rushing to get out onto the paper!  Our friends at Truman College started back today, too, so be sure to check out their stuff by following the Artists Community link.  Enjoy!

Salon Showcase 2011-W35

Cheerful sadness reigns this weekend as smokey barbecues signal the final weekend of Summer.  But also the end of our hiatus, which has revealed that the secret to a prompt blog posting on Saturday is to start the painting on Friday night.  Today's especially corpulent evil face is presented alongside a classic work by Julia.

As recently as 2008, 20% of Americans believed they were in the top 5% of wage earners.  Well, you don't need a degree in mathematics to know this is both very optimistic and impossibly wrong.  Now that you realize you're probably a Have Not, enjoy your Labor Day Weekend, workers of America!
